Qualifications
After an early career as an Engineer working for Fairchild Space and Defense Systems and then the State of California Air Resources Board Mr. Samuels joined a family antiques business, S. Davis & Co., with stores on Miami Beach. The antiques business led to appraising fine art and antiques. Initially the appraisal services were for Residential Contents, Antiques and Decorative Arts and the appropriate ASA certifications were obtained. With the Savings and Loan crisis in the 1980's Mr. Samuels was called on to appraise commercial personal property and was additionally ASA certified for Machinery and Equipment. He was appointed as Special Master (now Magistrate) for the Dade County Value Adjustment Board and served in that capacity for 16 years. By 1984 he was working full time as an appraiser with over half his assignments of a commercial nature. Assignments included banks, hotels, restaurants, medical facilities, offices, and aviation ground support equipment in addition to residential contents.
